Sheridan Woman Arraigned for Felony Theft Charge
A 38-year-old Sheridan woman was arraigned Thursday on a charge of felony theft in Fourth Judicial District Court. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter has the details.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, on April 15, 2026, Megan Cook, Owner of Java Moon and Java Moon Station, contacted the Sheridan Police Department to report that over $9,000 had been stolen from her business. A subsequent investigation led to the arrest of Monica Reisch, who, at the time of the alleged criminal activity, was the Manager of Java Moon Station and was in charge of making cash deposits at the bank on a daily basis. The investigation revealed that between January 2 and March 29 of this year, 18 deposits were missing, totaling over $9,200.
Reisch, at an arraignment hearing Thursday, pleaded not guilty to one count of felony theft. District Court Judge Darci Phillips scheduled a two-day jury trial to begin Monday, February 22, 2027. A pretrial conference will be January 21, at 11:30 am. Reisch’s bond was continued under the same terms and conditions that were previously set in Circuit Court.

since this is Judge phillips: a lame plea bargain from the state with suspended prison time, stern talking to, and a promise to re-pay. How do we get rid of this soft on crime judge that promotes instead of deters criminal activity?
