Works Street Bridge Replacement Project Begins Monday
The Works Street Bridge Replacement project in Sheridan was scheduled to begin earlier this week, but that start date has been moved to Monday, October 26. City Utilities Director Dan Roberts made the announcement at the recent City Council business meeting.
The project consists of the removal and replacement of the Works Street bridge. The bridge qualified for the Federal Highway Administration Bridge Formula Program (BFP) funds, which WYDOT then allocates to off-system bridges owned by local agencies throughout the state that are in poor or fair condition. The $1.9 million cost of the project is fully covered by these federal funds.
Removal and replacement of the bridge will require contractors to close Works Street between North Sheridan Avenue and South Waters Street. Traffic will be detoured to Sheridan Avenue via Park Street. The project is scheduled to be completed by July 31, 2027.
