Sheridan’s Works Street bridge to be replaced – Traffic to be Detoured
Wyoming Department of Transportation District 4 Senior Public Relations Specialist Laura Dalles has alerted Sheridan Media that WYDOT and its contractor, RoamMT, LLC, will remove and replace the Works Street bridge beginning the week of Oct. 19, 2026.
According to Dalles, this bridge qualified for the Federal Highway Administration Bridge Formula Program (BFP) funds, which WYDOT then allocates to off-system bridges owned by local agencies throughout the state that are in poor or fair condition. The $1.9 million cost of the project is fully covered by these federal funds.
The Works Street bridge was originally built in 1965 and is part of the City of Sheridan’s infrastructure.
Although many bridges in Wyoming fall within municipalities or county government jurisdiction, WYDOT handles the engineering, design, and construction administration with local agencies’ concurrence.
Removal and replacement of the bridge will require contractors to close Works Street between North Sheridan Avenue and S. Waters Street. Traffic will be detoured to Sheridan Avenue via Park Street.
This project is scheduled to be completed by July 31, 2027.
