Sheridan Winter Gear Swap Oct. 31

The Sheridan High School Nordic ski team will hold its Sheridan Winter Gear Swap from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, at the EMIT Building, giving residents an opportunity to buy and sell winter sporting gear and clothing while supporting Sheridan High School’s Nordic Ski Team. General admission begins at 8 a.m. with an early bird admission at 7 a.m. for a $10 fee.

Nordic Ski Team Head Coach Falk Alicke discussed the fundraiser during an appearance on Sheridan Media’s Pulse, inviting the community to take part.

Sellers can drop off gear Friday beginning at noon until 6:30 p.m., Oct. 30 at the EMIT Building. Organizers are asking that sellers pay $1 per item at drop off. Alicke said if a seller wishes to donate all their items without taking a profit from the sales, the dollar fee will be waived.

The sale is open to any buyer or seller and will feature new and used skis, winter clothing and other seasonal equipment, with two local stores participating alongside community sellers.

Alicke said the Sheridan Winter Gear Swap was born out of a necessity to outfit the high school team during its first year. Now, it has become a primary fundraiser for a team that sometimes travels to remote areas to compete.

Sheridan High School’s Nordic Ski Team receives 20% of sales proceeds to help support its program. The event offers families a chance to replace outgrown winter clothing and gear, find equipment for winter recreation or sell items they no longer use.
