The Kalif Shriners are preparing to welcome visitors to their Tunnel of Terror at the Kalif Shrine Center, 145 W. Loucks St. in Sheridan.

Former potentates Bill Rathburn and Steve Schlenker, along with Shriner Joe Schwartz, appeared on Sheridan Media’s Pulse to discuss the Halloween attraction and the organization’s service to children.

The event transforms the building’s tunnels into a haunted attraction with help from volunteers and members. Schlenker said the Shriners look forward to the event each year, providing fun and scares for the whole family.

According to Rathburn, the tunnels originally allowed performers to move throughout the building without disrupting stage productions.

The theme for this year is the haunted asylum. Schwartz said the best night for families with younger kids will be opening night beginning at 6 p.m. Thursday Oct. 29.

The funds raised during the Tunnel of Terror events go to maintain the Kalif Temple, upkeep for equipment used by the Kalif Shrine Klowns and pay for other events the Shriners hold for the community. Tickets remain at $5 per person or $20 per family.
