The Hospital Board of Trustees for the Johnson County Healthcare Center voted to approve funding for the purchase of long lead-time materials purchases for Phase III of their current capital construction project.

Will O’Dell, with O’Dell Construction, gave a presentation on Phase III, saying the cost estimates are higher than originally expected due to increased cost of materials.

According to O’Dell, the current cost estimate for Phase III is at $4.9 million, pushing the estimated overall cost for all three phases to $19.5 million, an increase of $500,000 over budget from the Master Plan.

JCHC CEO Luke Senden explained Phase III of the project.

Several rooms near the south nurse station, including staff break room, will be remodeled and they will gain three offices and storage areas along with an activities room for swing bed patient’s families.

It will also upgrade the existing clinic lobby area to additional provider offices with five exam rooms and one extra procedure room in that area.

The board voted to approve O’Dell Construction to purchase the long lead-time materials for the next phase of construction, up to $1.5 million.
