Wyoming Regional EMS Takes Over Ambulance Services In Sheridan County

It’s been about 1 1/2 weeks since ambulance services in Sheridan County changed to a more local and regional management and patients may have more ambulances available should they need to be transported to a different hospital.

Back on Sunday, November 20th, Wyoming Regional EMS, which is a partnership between Sheridan Memorial Hospital and Campbell County Health, took over providing ambulance services within the county.

Earlier this month crews in Sheridan had been providing back-up services for Rocky Mountain Ambulance which was the main service provider until this past Sunday.

Hospital President Mike McCafferty says the hospital may not always have the services a patient needs and being able to get a patient to another facility that has the services is important.

“One of the things that we had to kind of step up and do, was participate in inter-facility transfers and I know that Wyoming Regional EMS is going to be able to accommodate the inter-facility transports and that’s going to be a big thing for our hospital and for our community, when people need to get to a different level of care than we have here in Sheridan. Whether it be cardiac or behavioral health, whatever it might be, that resource is going to be available.”

McCafferty adds Wyoming Regional EMS has taken over the lease on the building on Broadway Street where Rocky Mountain had been operating out of, and ambulances are being stored there until needed.
