Wyoming Job And Payroll Numbers Increase From 2nd Quarter 2021, To 2nd Quarter 2022

The number of jobs and the total payroll has gone up recently in Wyoming, but the amount of employment is not where it was before the COVID pandemic started.
According to new numbers from the Research and Planning Division of the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services, from 2nd quarter of 2021, to 2nd quarter of 2022, Wyoming added more than 5,100 jobs (1.9% increase), and total payroll was up $283.7 million (up 8.3%).
The biggest job increases were in mining which was up 11.0% as well as leisure and hospitality which was up 4.1%.
The biggest drops were in state and federal government which were down 2.7% and 2.3% respectively.
While there has been an increase, employment in the Cowboy State is still down 6,300 compared to the second quarter of 2019.
In Northeast Wyoming, Campbell County had one of the biggest increases from 2nd quarter 2021, to 2nd quarter 2022, in both average monthly employment and total wages, which were up 5.5% and 15.6%.
Sheridan County was up 1.7% in employment and 10.4% in wages, while Johnson County was up 1.8% and 3.9% in those same categories.
Carbon County had the biggest one year drop with job numbers down 6.5% and wages down 7.2%.
