A 2019 Big Horn High School graduate is next year’s rodeo queen of Wyoming, and this weekend she will get the crown, sash, saddle and everything else coming her way.
Back in August, Reata Cook won the title of Miss Rodeo Wyoming 2023, and this Saturday is her coronation event at the Sheridan Best Western.
She will officially start her position on January 1st and was recently this year’s Sheridan WYO Rodeo Queen.
Ms. Cook says she has worn a number of crowns in the past to represent the Sheridan area.
Now she gets to represent the entire state, and is looking forward to representing at places, beyond Wyoming’s borders.
“Being Miss Rodeo Wyoming and Wyoming being the Cowboy State just goes hand in hand. I get to represent Wyoming through this title and through the great sport of rodeo. I haven’t really been to any rodeos outside of Wyoming, so I’m excited to go to ones as close as South Dakota and Colorado, but as far as Florida.”
Next month Ms. Cook will be at the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas, watching her predecessor compete for the title of Miss Rodeo America 2023, because she is automatically in the competition next year, as she will try to win the title of Miss Rodeo America 2024.
Tickets for this Saturday’s coronation event are still available.
