In less than 1 month Wyoming Regional EMS will take over providing ambulance service in Sheridan County.

The new service is part of a partnership between Sheridan Memorial Hospital and Campbell County Health.

In some ways, the EMS is already in operation because Sheridan Memorial Hospital is working with Campbell County Health to provide transports from Sheridan to another facility that offers a higher level of care.

Hospital President Mike McCafferty says the hospital board of trustees approved a financial memorandum of understanding for that service and to back up Rocky Mountain Ambulance between now and when the EMS officially takes over.

Mike McCafferty

“Right now, Campbell County Health is over here helping with coverage to ensure that there’s enough ambulances in our community during this period of time and that’s why we’re doing the memorandum of understanding is to help provide financial resources for Campbell County to be able to provide ambulances everyday to support Rocky Mountain and their efforts and what they’re doing between now and the 19th of November.”

McCafferty says he estimates that Wyoming Regional EMS will have about 30 EMT’s when the time comes.
