A new degree program has officially been added at Sheridan College, and students can not only learn from their computer, but create programs for that computer.
College officials were notified last week that the Higher Learning Commission has approved the college to have an associates degree in Software Development.
The degree will be available either on-line or in classrooms.
Collaborative relationships are currently being set-up for the College with Western Wyoming Community College in Rock Springs, Northwest College in Powell, and the University of Wyoming.
College President Dr. Walter Tribley says the addition of the degree program is more than just a win for the College.
“It’s part of the Wyoming Innovation Partnership, supported by the legislature, supported by the Governor. This is a feather in the cap for the state of Wyoming’s higher education system. It’s just a shared victory.”
Dr. Tribley says the college is pushing to get the degree program started in the fall semester of next year.
The software development degree is one of 3 degree programs that the College added to its curriculum earlier this year.
The other 2 are Advanced Materials Manufacturing and Hospitality and Tourism Management.
