Anyone traveling, visiting, camping or hiking in the Big Horn Mountains this weekend, should be prepared for excessive rain, and dangerous conditions near waterways.

The National Weather Service in Riverton has issued a flood watch for the eastern Big Horn Mountains in Johnson County.

The watch is in effect from 8am Friday (August 12th) until 10pm Sunday (August 14th).

The Weather Service advises that slow moving thunderstorms will be capable of dropping heavy rainfall across most of the higher elevation locations.

Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.

Anyone in the area should be prepared to take action should a flash flood warning be issued.
