Another oven could soon be turned on in the Weatherby building.
At a special meeting, the Sheridan Economic and Education Development Authority (SEEDA) approved a request from Weatherby to allow the company to install additional gas piping and ventilation for another cerakote oven.
A cerakote oven puts a specialized polymer-ceramic compound coating on items such as wood, polymers, metals and plastics.
The coating can be beneficial to a firearm as it can improve wear and tear over time, provide abrasion, corrosion and chemical resistance, and improve the firearms’ strength and durability.
SEEDA Administrator Robert Briggs says business within Weatherby is going good and the company needs to keep its momentum going.
“As part of their continuing growth and expansion of their manufacturing process, this will allow them to coat and cure more of the firearm components at a time, to meet up with the high demand for their products.”
Briggs adds Weatherby anticipates having the project finished by the end of next month.
