Explore History to Feature Sheridan’s Railroad Heritage

Sheridan Community Land Trust (SCLT) invites community members to discover the people, places and industries that helped shape Sheridan’s railroad history during two free Explore History programs in November.

SCLT Director of History Kevin Knapp will present a virtual version of SCLT’s guided walking tour of the Sheridan Railroad Historic District. Through historic stories and landmarks, participants will learn how railroad development helped transform Sheridan into an important rail hub of the American West and shaped the community we know today.

The program will be offered at two locations, on Wednesday, Nov. 11, 10–11:30 a.m. at The Hub on Smith in Sheridan, and again on Tuesday, Nov. 17, 10:30 a.m.–12 noon at the Tongue River Valley Community Center.

Both programs are free and open to the public. The virtual tour is presented indoors, with no walking required.
