The Center for a Vital Community was formed to bring residents together who want to make a lasting impact on their community.

During an appearance on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse, Julie Greer, from the Center for a Vital Community asked the Sheridan County public to consider joining in on one of many upcoming Study Circles that will focus on Middle School aged youth in Sheridan County.

The CVC Study Circles have tackled many issues in the past. The last was in 2021, titled Mental Health Matters which has made an impact on Sheridan through various initiatives.

Since that time, Greer said the mental health initiatives have made positive progress.

The discussions will utilize CVC Study Circles as the main avenue to create the conversations regarding concerns, ideas and solutions for middle school aged youth in the region. According to the CVC, Study Circles are a process for public dialogue and community change. They begin with inclusive community organizing that draws people from all parts of the county to work on an issue of shared concern.

The CVC is asking Sheridan County residents to take part in these Study Circles. Sheridan County School District superintendents, principles and other administrators will also be involved.

According to CVC Director Amy Albrecht, Study Circles will be held at a variety of times and days for the convenience of participants. Eight to 12 people will be in each Circle coming from different areas and backgrounds of the community. These groups will meet for five two-hour sessions and two facilitators will lead each group.

To get the conversations started, kick-off events will be taking place at the local schools.
