James Laughrey
James “Jim” Nelson Laughrey, Jr., 85, of Sheridan, passed away on Friday, June 2, 2023, at Mountain Plaza Assisted Living Memory Care in Casper, Wy.
Jim was born on September 27, 1937, in Sheridan, Wy to James Nelson Laughrey, Sr. and Maebelle Miller. He attended Sheridan High School and graduated with the class of 1955. He went on to the University of Wyoming and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy degree.
Jim served in the US Navy on the USS Waller from 1956-1959.
He met Nancy Sack in Sheridan and they were wed in 1961, going on to have three children, Susan, Steven, and Tom. Jim was the lead pharmacist / IT Department Director at Sheridan Memorial Hospital retiring after 35 years.
Jim loved woodworking, stream fishing, and anything involving computers. He was very amiable and had a great sense of humor.
Jim was preceded by his wife Nancy in 2021. He is survived by his children Susan Moran of Denver, Stephen Laughrey of Casper, and Tom Laughrey of Casper, and nine grandchildren.
Graveside services for James Laughrey will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2023 at 11:00 am in Sheridan Municipal Cemetery, Juniper Heights Section with a reception to follow at Kane Funeral Home Reception Hall.
