Inflation in 2022 hit some areas harder than others, and Wyoming did not get off easy.
According to a new report from the Wyoming Economic Analysis Division, the Wyoming cost of living index from the 2nd quarter of 2021, to the 2nd quarter of 2022, was up 10.1%.
That’s the highest increase since the third quarter of 1981, which was up 11.8%.
Transportation costs were up 16.4%, food was up 15.6% and housing was up 8.6%.
The cost of living index is determined by the amount of inflation and each county’s cost of living.
Teton County had the highest index increase.
Sheridan County had the 5th highest, and Johnson County had the 10th highest.
The index also included rental rates and in that report, Johnson and Sheridan Counties had the 2nd and 3rd highest percentage increase respectively in house rentals, and Sheridan County had the 2nd highest percentage increase in mobile home rentals.

This is a worldwide problem…not just in Wyoming. I find it interesting how as soon as Biden stepped into the White House inflation immediately kicked in. Not a peep about the dirty deeds Biden’s predecessor pulled..ie; steel tariffs for example which in itself drove up prices of anything made out of metal, like vehicles. And how about those tax breaks for corporations and rich people all the while crowing about how failed trickle down economics is a lifesaver. The answer is not the failed two party political system anymore…America needs a serious whitewashing.

America runs on oil, and when team biden declared war on oil in order to sate the green fear mongerers, the price of gasoline and diesel started to go up. Diesel is what brings food to the grocery stores, lumber to the hardware stores, and textiles to the manufacturers. The high diesel cost gets passed along to the consumer which leads to higher costs for everything. This is the same template that most of the first world countries have embraced which gets passed down economically to the third world countries. This is why inflation is worldwide. Biden has stated that oil companies should ramp up gasoline production to lower costs, or he would place heavy tax burdens and regulations on them. The first part is a lie, and the second part is already happening. Biden has always stated that net zero is the goal, and that fossil fuels are the enemy. Oh, and about those oil leases on public lands? Interior secretary haaland stated in a press release that her bureaucracy would be very selective on honoring them. Its going to be a very cold winter for many.

Luckily, we can vote ourselves some tax relief on Nov. 8th and drop our state-high 6% sales tax down to a more affordable 5%. That’ll save each of us thousands of dollars over time. Imagine, lower taxes and all we need to do is vote “AGAINST” Ballot Proposition no. 2.
