The 2022 General Election isn’t until November 8th, but voters can start casting their ballots at the end of this week.
Absentee voting starts this coming Friday (September 23rd), which by law, would be 45 days before the general election.
A voter must be registered to vote in order to participate and can request a ballot either by contacting their county clerk’s office by phone, by mail, on-line, or they can pick up a ballot in person.
Absentee ballots to those who have already requested one will be put in the mail beginning this Friday, and any new requests should arrive in the mail within 7 days of the request.
Those who choose to pick up an absentee ballot in person, can also fill out their ballot at the clerk’s office and turn it in right then and there.
All absentee ballots must be received in the county clerk’s office, by either mail or by hand-delivery by 7pm on November 8th.
No one is allowed to pick up an absentee ballot on Election Day.
The Sheridan County Clerks’ Office says there was a 34% increase in voter participation, or about 3-thousand more participants in last month’s primary election, compared to the primary election of 2020.
Voter participation state-wide was up 29%.
Absentee voting was down compared to 2020, because more people voted absentee in 2020, when the COVID pandemic was going on.
