The Sheridan Lady Bronc basketball team almost got themselves out of a 15-point hole, but time ran out on them and the season, in a 47-42 loss vs. Cheyenne East in the 2023 4A 3rd Place Game.
The Lady Broncs got off to a bad start, trailing 21-6 early in the 2nd quarter.
In the first half they shot 22.7% from the field (5-of-22), which included only one 3 in 7 tries.
Things slowly got better in the second half, as Sheridan shot 45% (9 for 20) including 6 shots behind behind the 3-point line, while the Lady Thunderbirds were 0-for-5 from long distance.
In the end, the stat that made the difference was that East was 14-of-23 on their free throws, compared to 7-of-11 for the Lady Broncs, who finish the season with a record of 15-11.
Sam Spielman (13 points) and Alli Ligocki (10 points) were the leading scorers for Sheridan, while the opposition was led by Bradie Schlabs (13 points), Boden Liljedahl (11 points) and Izzy DeLong (10 points).
