Sheridan Hawks Junior Hockey Team Preparing For First Place Battle At Helena
Things are about to heat up on the ice for the Sheridan Hawks Junior Hockey Team.
First place in the NA3HL Frontier Division is on the line, as the team visits the Helena Bighorns, for a 2-game series on Friday and Saturday.
Of the 10 games remaining on Sheridan’s regular season schedule, 3 of them will be played in Montana’s capital city.
It’s the only place that the Hawks have yet to visit, and the Bighorns are riding a 9-game win streak, which has helped pull them to just 2 points back in the standings.
Sheridan was off last week to rest up and Head Coach J.J. Santagata explains what it’s going to take to beat the 2-time defending Division champs at their place.
“Right now they’re getting depth scoring, they’re getting scoring from all different types of lines, all different type of defensemen and forwards. They’re a team that plays extremely structured, very simple, so it’s a just a matter of who’s going to be good in the neutral zone, who’s going to be good in the offensive zone, who’s going to be good detailed oriented, supporting pucks, not allowing bad penalties, winning special teams games, so that’s what it really comes down to. You play a good team like this, mistakes are going to hurt you, so it’s just limiting your mistakes and not letting them just bury us, when we do make mistakes. This is where we want to be, this is perfect, this is the situation we want to be in, this is exactly what we play for.”
The puck drops at 7:05pm for both games.
