University of Wyoming Athletics: The Wyoming Cowboy football team is back at home to resume Mountain West Conference play against San Jose State.

Kick off is scheduled for 5:30pm.

We’ll have the broadcast live on AM 1410 WYO beginning with the pre-game show starting at 4pm.

If you’re going to the game, the UW men’s basketball team is hosting a free scrimmage in the Arena-Auditorium at 3pm.

There will be an autograph session afterwards.

Colorado Rockies Baseball: The Colorado Rockies lost last night at San Francisco 6-to-3.

That’s the Rocks 4th loss in a row and they have dropped 8 of the last 9.

The Rockies and Giants conclude their 3-game series tonight.

First pitch is scheduled for 7:45pm.

Colorado Avalanche Pre-Season Hockey/Sheridan Hawks Off This Week: The Colorado Avalanche lost a pre-season game last night at Las Vegas, 7-to-1.

The Avs have 2 more pre-season games left on the schedule.

They will play again Monday at Dallas.

Meanwhile the Sheridan Hawks Junior Hockey team has this weekend off from competition.

The team will be back in action next Friday with a 2-game series at Rapid City.

The next home game is on Friday, October 14th vs. Gillette.

Sheridan High School Volleyball: The Sheridan Lady Broncs start a 3-game road trip today.

They will play Green River in Casper at Natrona County high School.

Tomorrow they play at Cheyenne Central and then Saturday at Cheyenne East.

Sheridan County High School Football: Along the lines of Cheyenne East, the Thunderbirds are in town tomorrow for the undefeated showdown vs. the Sheridan Bronc football team.

East is the only team that beat Sheridan last year.

It’s a homecoming of sorts for Senior Dominic Kaszas who played for the Broncs the past 3 years, but this year he plays for the opposition, as a result of his family moving to Cheyenne.

This season he has scored 9 touchdowns…2 of them rushing, 5 of them receiving and 2 on punt returns…and is averaging about 125 all-purpose yards per game.

Sheridan Head Coach Jeff Mowry says although the play calling has changed between then and now, Kaszas still know some things about the Broncs, but the blue and gold can’t focus on him only.

Jeff Mowry

“He has some local knowledge of what we’ve done and our schemes and things like that, so we’ve got to be aware of that. He’s going to play his game, and we have to play our game and it’s a Thunderbird vs. Bronc matchup and I talked to our guys. It’s not about an individual matchup. It’s about us vs. the T-Birds and the T-Birds have been a great team for the last few years.”

We will have the game live for you beginning with the pre-game show at about 5:30, on AM 1410 KWYO and 106.9 FM plus our live video web stream at sheridanmedia.com.

Kickoff is scheduled for 6pm.

Elsewhere in Sheridan County, Tongue River kicks off at home against Torrington at 2pm, and Big Horn is at home vs. Wheatland at 6pm.
