Arian Arlene Cox Harper went to her heavenly reward on April 7th. She was preceded in death by her husband Walter Harper, her daughter-in-law Pam (Wayne), son-in-law Tom (Gayle), and granddaughter Shariah. She grew up with her two older brothers, Roger Cox and Howard Cox, younger sister LaVern Davidson, and younger brother Ray Cox. She was born to Jim and Myra Cox on January 5, 1928 in the shadow of the Devil’s Tower, at a time when airplanes and cars were magical things. She moved to Sheridan to attend High School and lived with a family who had recently moved to Sheridan from the Devil’s Tower area. She married Walter Harper in February of 1945. They had four children, Terry (Pan), Eljo (Cliff), Gayle (Tom) and Wayne (Pam). She has 16 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren. She, Elaine Hillman and Maxine Shell started the 3B’s Sunday school (Big Goose, Beckton, Beaver Creek). The reason to start the Sunday school was the inability of many to travel to Sheridan for church. She was currently attending Sheridan Wesleyan Church.

While Walter worked to raise money in Sheridan, Arian raised a big garden, while taking care of the baby chickens, calves, lambs and kids, not necessarily in that order. At a time when many are thinking of retiring, she started a new career at Sheridan Memorial Hospital in the business department and retired at the age of 74. She never met anyone that she didn’t try to be kind to and she will be greatly missed. Particularly when we need an unfailing, undeserved cornerman. Love you.

A Graveside Service for Arian will be held on Monday, April 12, 2021 at 10:30am in the Evergreen section of Sheridan Municipal Cemetery with Pastor Aaron Hughes officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Arian’s name can be made to Ignition at Sheridan Wesleyan Church, 404 W Brundage Lane, Sheridan, WY 82801.
