Rich Marron

Rich Marron passed away February 14th 2026 in Cheyenne with family at his side. He was born in Sheridan on 2-3-47 to Alice (James) and Bernard Marron.

Growing up in Sheridan with five older siblings made for a bit of a spoiled boy..it was a good life, swimming and tubing on Little Goose Creek in summer and sledding and skating in the winter months. Lots of outdoor activities, hiking, picnics on tank hill, running in abandon up ‘on top’ of Big Horns and swimming in the ‘pits’ of Bruno’s and Monarch School was not a top priority but he did exceptionally well in spite of it.

Attending Holy Name School and graduating class of 1965 at Sheridan High School and BA at Sheridan Community College.

Rich graduated high school a semester early and immediately joined the US Air Force. Perhaps it was the Air Force and the many assignments that gave him the lust to travel..Stationed at Lackland, Amarillo, Elmendorf, Kessler, Hurlburt, Lowry Co Anderson, and Kincheloe over a ten year hitch. After discharge he was ’employed’ by the US Navy doing what he did best in procurement and contracting for the USA.

After living in Sheridan and Casper he found his real HOME in Laramie. Owner and realtor of HOME FINDERS REALTY until 2009, Rich retired. Always an avid photographer he blended that with his love of travel. He spent many winters in Costa Rica and Florida and I’d not begin to know how many cruises he enjoyed. Longest being 67 days around and through South America and stopping at Antarctica.

Rich continued traveling between treatments and during remission of his cancer. The last trip was a 51 day cruise taking him over the South Pacific to 25+ islands including Bora Bora, Fiji and Tahiti (where our Dad spent most of WWII nearby on Dry Dock ABS#4). Travels included visiting all seven continents and 55 different countries. He loved meeting people from all over, experiencing bits of their cultures along with scuba diving ..Many new friends remained close to him and some taking new cruises with him.

Rich is preceded in death by some of his loving family including his parents, brothers, Jim, John and Bob Marron and sister Marjorie Arbogast and nephews Craig Arbogast and Jeff Harris. Surviving are sister and brother in law Jean and Lynn Harris, nieces, Carol Davis, Jean Arbogast, Kim Ellis and many great and great great nieces and nephews.

A special thanks to Richard’s multitude of friends for their friendship, support and PRAYERS from the early years especially the gals of SHS Class of ’65, The Oblates of Our Lady of Guadalupe especially Marilyn Payer and Ginny & Mike Molinari, the amazing fun friends he has garnered from his travels especially Jackie Lynn, and last but not least the Laramie coffee group of friends who have been friends throughout the years supporting him through emotional and physical pain and CELEBRATING THE GIFT OF LIFE AND THE GRACE OF GOD. Richard had strong FAITH and the will to live but recognized that GOD had other plans. Superb care and compassion by all the staff served Rich and family during his time at Cheyenne Veterans Hospital and Community Living Center.  Graveside service will be held on October 10th at 10AM at Sheridan Cemetery, Northside Lot 9 Plot 2. May he rest in peace.
