Lucille Anna Erichsen was born on January 26, 1933, in Clear Lake, South Dakota. She was the daughter of Arthur and Florence (Andre) Engelbrecht.

Lucille attended a country school in Deuel County, SD beginning at the age of four where she walked nearly two miles from her parent’s farm. Her brothers, Merle and Dale, would each take one of her hands and help her along. She was already a special person to those who knew her.

She graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1949 at the age of 16. She had many friends there and was active in cheerleading, chorus, class plays, and declaim.

Lucille was united in marriage to Alvin Wayne Erichsen on June 5, 1955, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clear Lake. After their marriage, they lived in various places including Brookings, SD; Champaign, IL; Longmont, CO; Tracy, CA and in Sheridan where she spent much of her married life.

Lucille farmed with her father while her brother Dale served in the Army during the Korean War. While in Brookings, she worked in the college bookstore while Alvin attended college. Their daughter Laurie and son David were born in Brookings and she dedicated her time and talents to raising them.

While in Colorado she enjoyed spending time in the mountains hiking, picnicking, and fishing. In California, her favorite places were San Francisco, Monterey-Carmel, and Lake Tahoe. In Sheridan, she again enjoyed the mountains and visits to and from family and proudly watching her grandchildren grow to adulthood.

Lucille was an active member of Missouri Lutheran Churches in the locations where she lived. She taught Sunday school for many years and taught pre-confirmation classes in Longmont. She attended services at Immanuel Lutheran Church regularly and was a member of Pricilla Circle.

She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Laurie Beth, brothers Merle Engelbrecht and Dale Engelbrecht, and sisters Elaine Hanson and Irene Engelbrecht.

Lucille is survived by her husband Alvin of Sheridan, WY; son David of Tracy, CA, and five grandchildren: Aaron Holt, Philip Erichsen, Conner Holt, Jenna Holt, and Danielle Deyoung. She is also survived by 7 great-grandchildren and one sister, Naomi Boone.

A viewing at 9:00am and Celebration of Life service at 10:00am will be held on Friday, September 25, 2020 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1300 W 5th Street, Sheridan, WY 82801. Pastor Paul Cain will be officiating.
