Barbara Jane Puett, resident of Sheridan, Wyoming, passed away on September 28, 2024 at Sheridan Memorial Hospital at the age of 72.
Barbara was born on March 19, 1952, the daughter of Jackson and Jane (Knoechel) Burton in Port Washington, Wisconsin. Her childhood years were spent in Grafton, Wisconsin and Green Bay, Wisconsin. After graduating from high school, Barb attended UW-Stout, where she received her degree in vocational rehabilitation. She moved to Sheridan, Wyoming and worked in a group home where she met Bruce Puett whom she married in 1974. Barb and Bruce moved to Story and later Sheridan.
Barb and Bruce were foster parents to several young people, including Frances Howard. They adopted their daughter Casey when she was two.
Barb was employed as a social worker until her retirement. She was an advocate for her clients and was dedicated to helping others. Barb loved and cared for animals as well. Over the years, the family had many dogs and cats as pets. For a time, they also owned some llamas.
Barb was a talented and avid knitter, quilter, and weaver. She also enjoyed reading, collecting dolls, and watching Hallmark movies. The Puett family enjoyed many special times picnicking in the mountains, which she loved.
Bethesda Worship Center was a place where Barb found much solace and was especially grateful for all the loving care she received from so many people there. She found comfort in her faith in Jesus Christ which sustained her, especially when Bruce and Casey passed away within weeks of each other.
Barb will be sadly missed by her brother, Bill (Connie)Burton, nieces Trina (Jonathan)Barnett, Emily (Michael)Fazio, sister-in-law, CeCi Fitzpatrick, Francis Howard, dear friend AJ Lawrence (Paul Vinzant), her grandnephews and grandnieces, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Jackson and Jane Burton, husband, Bruce and daughter, Casey.
Her funeral service will take place at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at Bethesda Worship Center in Sheridan, with Pastor Scott Lee officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to honor Barbara can be made to Bethesda Worship Center, 5135 Coffeen Ave, Sheridan, WY. Online condolences may be made to www.sheridanfuneral.com. Arrangements are under the care of Sheridan Funeral Home.

Barb was one of the first people I met when I moved to Sheridan (and was a positive friend when I needed guidance.) She and her daughter Casey were my light in uncertain times. I miss them so much, but glad that Bruce, Barb, and Casey are together again.
Rest in peace, I will miss all of you.
