Sandra Lea Harrell was born July 21, 1938, in Casper, Wyoming to Jack and Ruby Thomas. She grew up and went to school in Casper and graduated from Natrona County High School with the class of 1956. Sandy met the love of her life, Virgil Harrell, in Casper while he was there visiting family. Virgil and Sandy were married on February 2, 1957, and lived in Florida for a short time before moving to California, where she was a keyboarder. Virgil was drafted into the U.S. Army and following an honorable discharge the couple moved back to Casper where Sandy was a homemaker, and they started their family. In 1973, they moved to Buffalo, where she was a great support to her husband’s business ventures and took pride in raising her daughters.
Sandy was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening and working in her yard. She was active in Bible Studies and Life Groups at the Wesleyan Church. Her passion was being with her family, especially her grandkids.
Sandy is survived by two daughters Valerie A. Occhipinti and her husband James of Aubrey, Texas, and Deborah K. Rovenstine and her husband Kurt of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; one sister Shirley Richards of Casper; four grandchildren, Breanna, Brittany, Alecia, and Tori, and a proud great-grandmother to six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Virgil and one brother, Jack Thomas.
