Dustin John Volmer, age 49, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2024, in Buffalo, Wyoming, surrounded by the natural beauty he so dearly loved. Born on September 4, 1974, in Sheridan, Wyoming, Dustin’s early years were marked by a profound connection to the open skies and rolling landscapes that would define much of his life’s joy.
Dustin was a cherished son to his mother Judy Volmer and her partner Clinton McKenzie of Arvada, Wyoming; Son to John Volmer and his partner Georgia Sears, of Sheridan, Wyoming; Brother to Jay Volmer and his wife Becky of Yoder, Wyoming and Rowdy Volmer and his husband Tim Cetifelli of Cypress, Texas; and his sister Lisa Jassak of Winnett, Montana; and dear friend to Kelly Jensen, case manager for Dustin, and numerous nephews who he loved. Dustin was preceded in death by his niece Crickett Volmer. Each family member held a special place in his heart.
Dustin was known for his amiable nature and his genuine interest in those around him. He was characterized not by a single path but by the many lives he touched through his life. He carried his passion for community and fellowship into his involvement with various associations, where his friendly demeanor and kindness were as constant as the northern star.
Dustin’s zest for life was most evident in his love for the great outdoors. He had an enduring passion for horses and had a great love for hiking, fishing, and camping which allowed him to embrace the simple joys of a life well-lived. Described by those who knew him as loving, kind, and friendly, Dustin’s legacy is one of warmth and gentle kindness. His approach to life was one of open arms, an ever-present smile, and an eagerness to extend a helping hand. He had a remarkable ability to make each person he met feel valued, and his compassion knew no bounds.
Dustin’s life will be celebrated in private by his family.
