Aaron PalmerAt their meeting this week the Johnson County Commission discussed a proposed extension of the current agreement between themselves and the US Forest Service for the parking area on Hazelton Road.
Commission Chair Bill Novotny explained what the county was seeking and why.
County Road & Bridge Supervisor Scott Pehringer said the extension would be for three months, January through March of 2022 as the current agreement runs through December 31st of 2021.
The commission voted to approve Chairman Novotny to negotiate an extension with the Forest Service for the current parking area, and to negotiate an agreement with the private landowner for a new parking area, which will then be brought back to the commission for consideration.
