Parade Goers Talk about the 2024 WYO Rodeo Parade

The extreme heat, later in the day it was over 100 degrees, couldn’t stop a good crowd from attending the 2024 WYO Rodeo Parade on Friday, July 12.

Josh Philips and his wife were some of the attendees from out-of-state. They were from Cave Creek, Arizona. This is their first time at the parade, but they said the loved to come to Sheridan.

Chip King, Director of Operations at the Museum at the Bighorns, was born and raised in Sheridan, and he has been at the parade for many years, as well as being in the parade many times.

He added that they have friends in town, and they plan to take in the WYO Rodeo on Saturday.

Nine-year old Dominic Cooper-Hinzman and his father, Edward, were selling raffle tickets for the Big Horn High School class of 2024. Dominic talked about his favorite part of the parade.

When asked if he was going to the carnival, he said he had already been to the carnival, and it was fun.

Kat Deeds, manager of the Mint Bar, talked about the iconic Mint Bar on Main Street. This is her 13th rodeo year but

The Mint also hosted a street dance later in the evening.

Jean Harm and her husband, Brad, were watching the parade. Jean was born and raised in Sheridan.

There were many colorful floats, and several bands such as the American Legion’s 7th Cavalry Drum and Bugle Corp that started the parade, the Sheridan High School Marching Band, and the Kalif Shrine Band that played up-lifting music.

Native American dancers from the Crow Tribe gave the crowd a preview of the upcoming Powwow held at the Historic Sheridan Inn immediately following the parade.

Old tractors, horse drawn wagons and mounted groups traveled the parade route for another year of the WYO Rodeo Parade. The parade was live streamed by Sheridan Media, and there will be a story on the Powwow posted shortly.
