JC Emergency Management To Run Exercise This Month

Published

on

Johnson County Emergency Management works to prepare the county, its residents and responding agencies for disasters and other emergencies.

Emergency Management Coordinator Jimmy Cataline’s duties include coordination planning and communication among county government, law enforcement, fire departments, emergency medical services and other organizations that may respond during a major incident.

The office takes an all-hazards approach to preparedness, which can include planning for wildfires, severe weather and other natural or human-caused emergencies.

Emergency management also involves training, exercises, and testing communications.

Cataline and Johnson County will be conducting an exercise to put that training to the test. During an appearance on Public Pulse, Cataline said planning for an emergency situation exercise, scheduled for later this month, is nearing completion.

The goal of the exercise is to test the emergency response of certain county workers and staff. The exercise also shows county leadership where further training or policy may be required.
