Thursday morning, Fire and Rescue responded to a natural gas line strike at the 200 block of Broadway Street according to Sheridan Fire and Rescue Captain Jerry Johnston.
Initial contact crews found a contractor performing horizontal boring operations had struck a natural gas line located under the street.
Fire and Rescue Crews isolated the area and evacuated two local businesses in the area as a safety precaution, then proceeded to close Broadway Street from Grinnell to Alger Streets to protect Sheridan residents.
Montana Dakota Utilities arrived on scene to provide assistance and guidance. The contractor and MDU “squeezed” off the gas lines and will be working to repair the damage.
Sheridan Fire and Rescue have lifted the closure of the area.
