The Wyoming Department of Transportation has held two public meetings to inform residents and business owners of the upcoming Downtown Sheridan Main Street Project tentatively scheduled for April of 2023.
While appearing on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse program, WYDOT Senior Public Information Specialist for District 4 Laura Dalles told listeners that the meetings were well received with approximately 25 members of the public in attendance.
Sheridan Main Street business owners, landlords and members of the general public had the choice of two meetings to attend based on their schedules with the first held Tuesday, June 14, from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m., and the other Wednesday, June 15, from 4 p.m. until 5 p.m.
Dalles gave listeners a general overview of the upcoming project.
The “leapfrog” practice has been developed to prevent any unneeded interruption to the local downtown businesses. As each section of old roadway is removed, the City of Sheridan will utilize the opportunity to update utilities housed under Main Street.
WYDOT Sheridan Resident Engineer Jake Whisonant told listeners that any possible interruptions in utilities during the project and repairs are currently being explored by the respective companies.
WYDOT is working closely with the Downtown Sheridan Association and the Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce to disseminate information and hear the concerns of local business owners.
According to Dalles, more informational meetings on the project will be held in the future.
