SCSD#2 Board Recognizes Beck Haswell and Music Program

At the Monday, August 3 SCSD#2 Board meeting, Scott Cleland, principal at SHS, announced that Beck Haswell was awarded the 2026 Boys Milward Simpson Award, he explained what the award is.

He then went on to explain why Haswell was chosen to receive the prestigious award.

Cleland added this about Haswell’s academic career as well.

Several of the trustees commented on the award. Trustee Rambur said that only a few people have this title and told Haswell, ‘well done.’

Trustee Fessler said Haswell joins a small crowd of high school students who have won this award.

Haswell thanked his family for their support during his high school sports career.

Chad Rose, Director of Bands at Sheridan High School, talked about Sheridan being named 2026 Best Communities for Music Education.

There were no audience comments at the meeting.

In her superintendent’s report, new superintendent Rebecca Adsit talked about the upcoming school year, and the attendance in summer school for the past summer.

Troy Decker gave a facilities update, including the roofing project at Woodland Park School, and the paving project for the driveways.

One policy, concerning home-based learning, was discussed and approved on first reading.

Next meeting will be held on Sept 14 at 6 p.m. at the Central Office.
