SCSD#1 Administrators Excited about the Upcoming Year
School will begin for students in SCSD#1 on Monday, August 24. At the monthly Board of Trustee meeting Tuesday, August 18, principals from the schools in the district talked about how excited they were that school was starting again.
Fred Hollingshead, director of the Cowboy State Virtual academy, talked about the numbers in CSVA.
He said they did a reset on the program, and it has been growing every year. He also talked about having a CSVA graduation this coming year.
Tanya LaBossiere, Principal at Tongue River Elementary, talked about her school.
She mentioned that having the early education that helps children get ready for kindergarten is a big help to the elementary teachers. “It makes a world of difference,” she said.
Russ Wilde at Tongue River Middle School had this to say about the upcoming school year.
He also thanked the grounds crew for getting everything ready for the upcoming year.
Tongue River High School principal Wade Sanford gave a presentation about TRHS for the upcoming year. He thanked the grounds crew and said they would have around 200 students for the 2026-27 year.
He also passed on a compliment from the TRHS staff, saying there were grateful for the work the board did on the handbooks.

Brad Gregorich, Big Horn Elementary, said the teachers in his school were also appreciative of the Early Childhood Education, making the transition to kindergarten easier.
He said they were having their welcome back party on Wednesday. “We will be serving burgers and dogs,” he added.
Brian Lawson, Big Horn Middle School, said that he had heard a lot of good things about the early education program as well. He has two children who have taken advantage of the program. He talked about staffing in his district as well.
Ryan Fuhrman, Big Horn High School, could not attend the meeting.

The principals were all enthusiastic about making the 2026 and 2027 year a positive one with the students in SCSD#1.
