On November 24, 2025, investigators with the Blytheville, Arkansas Police Department contacted the Sheridan Police Department about a report of sexual abuse. A subsequent investigation led to the arrest of 40-year-old David Fletcher for the alleged sexual abuse of a minor in Sheridan County between December 8, 2023 and September 29, 2024. Fletcher, at a hearing Tuesday in District Court, pleaded not guilty to one count of sexual abuse of a minor in the first degree and one count of incest. District Court Judge Darci Phillips scheduled a three-day jury trial to begin on November 16. A pretrial conference will take place October 13 at 9 am. If convicted on both counts, Fletcher faces up to 65 years in prison and fines of up to $20,000.

Also arraigned Tuesday was Alyssa Wegner of Buffalo. Wegner pleaded not guilty to one count of felony child abuse for an incident on December 24, 2025 at a residence in Sheridan County where she allegedly punched and beat a 10-year-old victim. Her bond was modified to stipulate that she cannot have any contact with three of the alleged witnesses in the case. Wegner also has a pending case in Johnson County where she’s charged with similar crimes. Her trial was scheduled for November 16, where it will be #3 in the stack.

The #2 stack trial on November 16 was scheduled for 44-year-old Zachary Melneck, after he pleaded not guilty to two counts of endangering children for allowing a child to remain in a dwelling where methamphetamine was possessed, stored or ingested. Melneck also pleaded not guilty to two counts of felony drug possession and one count of misdemeanor possession with intent to deliver drug paraphernalia. If convicted on all five counts, Melneck faces up to 20 years in prison and fines of more than $20,000.
