A Look Back in Time: Jan. 26, 1920

Now here’s Sheridan Media’s look back in time, to 100 years ago, by reporter Pat Blair as published in the Sheridan Enterprise newspaper on Jan. 26, 1920.

A city ordinance is proposed that will make it a misdemeanor to execute any self-styled indecent dance steps, such as the “shimmy” and the “hugmetighterdance.”

Three boys, all under 13 years of age, will appear in police court this afternoon to answer to a charge of burglarizing the Farmers and Consumers Cooperative company store last night.

An executive committee of the Red Cross met at 1 o’clock this afternoon to consider steps to aid in combating the flu epidemic that is raging in the city. Owing to the fact that in many instances entire families are ill, the problem of caring for the sick is becoming serious.
