Law enforcement in Sheridan County have arrested two residents from Sheridan and one from Casper, who are suspected in the kidnapping and death of a woman in Colorado.

Forty-three year old Shantel Edlund, and 23-year old Leo VanBuskirk, both of Sheridan and 39-year old Casey Childers of Casper, have been arrested on suspicion of committing first degree kidnapping.

In a news release, the Aurora, Colorado Police Department say the 29-year old female victim may have been kidnapped on November 6th near the Children’s Hospital in Aurora.

The suspects were seen driving a 2016 Chevrolet Malibu, and police later learned the same vehicle was seen one day later just south of Franktown, which is southeast of Denver.

After Edlund, VanBuskirk and Childers were arrested by Sheridan County law enforcement this past Wednesday (December 29th) on unrelated charges, Aurora Police drove to Wyoming to interview the three about the missing woman.

An arrest warrant for first degree kidnapping was secured.

On Friday (December 31st), the missing woman’s body was found and Aurora Police suspect she died of a gunshot wound.

Aurora police say they expect first degree murder charges to be filed in the near future.

Edlund, VanBuskirk and Childers are being held in the Sheridan County Detention Center, awaiting an extradition hearing.

The identification of the female victim will be released once she has been positively identified, an autopsy has been performed, and the victim’s immediate family and next of kin have been notified.
