A Sheridan High School senior who competes in 2 sports has made her college decision, and the school has recruited her in both events.
Jaylynn Morgan has signed her letter of intent (LOI) to compete in track and field, in particular the discus and javelin events, at Colorado Mesa University, located in Grand Junction.
She has also been invited to walk-on the women’s swimming team.
Like most multi-sport athletes, she explains how she uses one sport to help prepare for the other.
“The weight lifting in throwing helps with swimming, because you need a lot of upper body strength. Swimming helps with your athletic-ness, because it’s a lot of cardio vascular stuff along with very similar weight lifting exercises, so they both go hand in hand.”
Morgan says she’s been throwing since she was in 6th grade and has been swimming since she was 7 years old.
She adds she plans to major in exercise science and pursue a career in physical therapy.
