Sheridan College Men’s Rodeo Team Finishes 3rd At 2026 Central WY College Competition

The Sheridan College Men’s Rodeo team, thanks to 1 1st place finish, 2 2nd’s and 1 3rd, placed third at the 2026 Central WY College Rodeo in Riverton this past weekend.

Bridger Peil won the tie-down roping event with a time of 25.5 seconds on 2 runs.

He is currently 3rd in the Central Rocky Mountain Region standings, and his teammate, Tyon Arneson is in 2nd.

Chaz Dewey was 2nd in the bareback riding, with a 2 ride total of 134.5 points.

That finish pushed him up to 3rd in the region standings, which is where he needs to be at the end of next April, to qualify for the College National Finals Rodeo.

Four Sheridan College cowboys finished in the top 7 of the saddle bronc riding.

Leading the team was Christopher Nelson who was 2nd with a 2-ride total of 147 points.

After 2 weekends of competition, he is in 1st place in the Central Rocky Mountain Region standings.

Nelson was followed by Bleu Wanner at 3rd with 145.

Jake Schlattmann and Koy McAllister were 6th and 7th, with scores of 139 and 134 respectively.

On the ladies side, Tatum Reid was 3rd in goat tying with a 2 round time of 14.9 seconds.

Sheridan College will host the Pat Hamilton Memorial Rodeo at the Sheridan County Fairgrounds Friday, Sept. 25, through Sunday, Sept. 27.

The event was voted the Central Rocky Mountain Region Rodeo of the Year for 2025-2026.  

The rodeo will kick off with slack performances at noon on Friday, Sept. 25, followed by the main performance at 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, slack begins at 9 a.m., followed by the main performance at 2 p.m.

The rodeo will wrap up with the short round at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 27.
