Sheridan Hawks Junior Hockey Team Preparing For Home Opener With New Coach

After a 2-2 performance on the road to start the season, the Sheridan Hawks will begin the home portion of their schedule, with a former player calling the shots, at least temporarily.

Blake Billings, who played for the team in the 2019-2020, as well as the 2021-22 and 22-23 seasons, has been named the interim Head Coach.

He was also an assistant coach for Sheridan in the 2023-24 season.

Billings says he’s going to try to teach strategies that worked when he was with the team, and hope that it’s not too different from what the players have already been doing.

“Just kind of what I’ve gone through as a player. I’m kind of going off of what worked for me and the teams I was on previously and kind of translate that to here. I haven’t watched any of the games, but just from first practice, there’s a lot of speed out there, a lot of skill and hopefully bring some more physicality this weekend and just grind the other team down.”

The Hawks host the Bozeman IceDogs this coming Friday and Saturday at the Whitney Rink inside the M&M Center.

The puck drops for both games at 7:30pm.
