Coaches From Big Horn and Buffalo HS Named Finalists For 2026 National Coach The Year
Two High School Coaches from North-Central Wyoming, who have a history of success, have been named as some of the best coaches in the country.
Kirk McLaughlin of Big Horn High School (Boys Track and Field), and Dick Edgcomb of Buffalo (Soccer) are 2 of 12 finalists in Wyoming, to named a finalist for the National High School Athletic Coaches Association (NHSACA) National Coach of the Year in their respective sport.
Eight finalists are selected in each sport.
Last year, the BH boys track and field team 3-peated as 2A State Champs with McLaughlin at the helm.
Edgecomb has been the Buffalo HS Soccer Coach since 2007 and has coached the Bison to 3 state titles in his tenure, the most recent being last year in shootout fashion.
Mr. McLaughlin and Mr. Edgcomb will be recognized at the NHSACA National Convention held in Iowa City, Iowa, which is scheduled to take place June 29th, 30th and July 1st.
