When the Sheridan Troopers Legion Baseball team takes to the field this season, their coach will be back in the dugout.

Last September the Board for the team dismissed Head Coach Austin Cowen, after the team finished as Wyoming AA State Runners-Up.

Details as to why that happened are unknown.

After much discussion, as well as feedback from current and former players, the board recently reversed course and decided to bring him back for the next 2 seasons.

Coach Cowen says there’s no hard feelings, and thanks to this current mild winter, players have been able to have more off-season outdoor workouts than normal.

“We’ve been doing some winter workouts and just a couple of days a week in our indoor. Obviously, luckily with the weather, the way it’s been this winter, we’ve been able to get outside, long toss and do some things, so in that sense, I think the guys are exactly where they should be and that’s what we really are worried about and what matters.”

Practice for the Troopers will start sometime in March and the season will begin in April, sometime after the Easter Holiday.

This year’s Wyoming Legion Baseball AA State Tournament, will be held at Gillette.
