The Sheridan Hawks hosted the Butte Irish to a weekend they might wish they could have missed.

On Friday night, Sheridan opened the scoring early in the first period on a power play.

Elijah White moved the puck to Vincent Leaf along the sideboards, and Leaf found Jameson Clark in the slot for a shot he fired into the back of the net.

Butte answered early in the second and slipped one past the goaltender but Sheridan responded quickly, reclaiming the lead on a goal from Elijah Farris, assisted by Daniel Shelden.

The Hawks added another in the final seconds of the period when Keegan Long fired a shot from the point that deflected off Charles Stow to Derrek Laite, who tipped it in for a 3–1 advantage.

Sheridan pulled away in the third. Laite scored early in the period, assisted by White and Lucas Paliwodizinski.

The Irish got one back to briefly bring it to a 3-2 context, however the Hawks answered immediately as Deagan Watson’s point shot was redirected into the net by Caden Gleason.

Vincent Leaf sealed the game with an empty-netter in the final minutes.

TJ Wonnacot made 23 saves to secure the win for the Sheridan Hawks.

The following night, the Sheridan Hawks looked to secure their second home win of the weekend against the Butte Irish at the M&M’s Center.

Sheridan struck first and claimed the only goal of the opening period when Vincent Leaf picked up a turnover in the neutral zone, cut through the middle, and beat the defender before sliding a backhand shot past the goaltender.

Butte answered late in the second period with a 5 on 3 power play goal to tie the game 1–1 heading into the third.

The Hawks regained control quickly.

Less than a minute into the period, Lucas Paliwodizinski won a faceoff and carried the puck in for an unassisted goal to put Sheridan back on top.

The lead grew when Jeff Slivon sent a cross-ice pass to Jameson Clark in the faceoff circle, where he ripped a shot into the net to make it 3–1.

Slivon added one final goal in the closing minutes, sealing a 4–1 win for the Hawks.

Olivier Caballero made 25 saves to secure the victory for Sheridan with a 96% save average.

The Hawks have a home on home split schedule against the Gillette Wild coming up this Thanksgiving weekend.

The Hawks play the Wild in Gillette on Friday night and return home to host the Wild on Saturday night.
