Weekend Local Sports Wrap up

BRONC / LADY BRONC BASKETBALL – The Bronc and Lady Bronc basketball teams dropped games at Thunder Basin Saturday the Broncs tried to keep the game close but Thunder’s guard play was the difference in the 65-55 loss, here’s Head coach Jeff Martini.

Both teams close out the regular season at Natrona county Friday with the Broncs having the chance to wrap a number one seed heading into the regional tournament.

REGIONAL BASKETBALL – 1-A and 2-A regional basketball tournaments start Thursday the Arvada / Clearmont Lady Panthers will open in Douglas against Lingle / Fort Laramie.

The Tongue River Eagles and Lady Eagles will play in Riverton the Lady Eagles open with Wyoming Indian the Eagles will take on Wind River in the first round.

The Big Horn Rams and Lady Rams head to Torrington the Lady Rams play Southeast while the Rams square off with Lusk.

SC BASKETBALL – The Sheridan college Generals and Lady Generals dropped games with Casper college Saturday Lady Generals lost 53-29 and the Generals fell 96-82 the women’s Region nine tournament starts Friday at home sites around the region.

UW BASKETBALL – The Wyoming basketball teams both picked up victories over the Air Force Academy Saturday. the Cowboys host Nevada tomorrow night at 7:00 the Cowgirls play at Nevada tonight.

SWIMMING / DIVING – The Bronc swimmers and divers closed out their season in Laramie at the state championships finishing 8th.

WRESTLING – The Bronc wrestlers finished 3rd int heir regional tournament in Cheyenne the state tournament starts in Casper Friday.

JUNIOR HAWKS HOCKEY – The Junior Hawks split games over the weekend they beat Gillette Friday and lost in a shoot out against Yellowstone Saturday. The Hawks close out the regular season at Bozeman, Montana Friday and Saturday.

YOUTH HOCKEY CAMP – Peter Budaj played professional in the NHL as a goaltender for 17 seasons was a first round draft pick of the Colorado Avalanche in 2001 and retired from pro hockey in 2018 he was in Sheridan Saturday conducting a youth camp at the M&M center.

Budaj told us at the Whitney rink Saturday as a former pro it means a lot to him to do these camp for kids.

and he always has a message for all youth players as they start to play the game they love.
