Sheridan Police Chief planning community assessment
Newly promoted Sheridan Police Chief Travis Koltiska has begun to work with Peak Consulting to perform a community needs assessment to determine the policing needs of community members.
Peak Consulting is a Wyoming based firm with more than 20 years’ experience working with start-up to Fortune 500 companies in the for profit and not-for-profit arena, according to their website.
According to the Centers for Disease Control, a community needs assessment provides community leaders with a snapshot of local policy, systems, and environmental change strategies currently in place and helps to identify areas for improvement.
During an appearance on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse, Koltiska told listeners that his intention is to bring together a diverse group of community members to determine what the community needs from it’s police force.
Although no date is set for the assessment to begin yet, the end result will give Koltiska and the SPD a firm grasp on the needs of Sheridan residents and their expectations of the department. Koltiska said the mission of the SPD is to continuously evolve and serve the needs of the community.

Do we really need to spend money on this. Sheridan is not that big nor does it have a lot of crime issues. I think they can get input from all the officers and come up with the same information.
