JCSD1 Board Updated on Upcoming Election
In his written report to the Johnson County School Board, Superintendent Charles Auzqui gave an update on the General Election on November 3 and the races that will affect the school district.
The board had discussed the possibility of reducing the number of trustees on the board for a number of months, and sought approval by the Wyoming State Board of Education (WSBE) to do so.
Back in May of this year, the WSBE did approve JCSD1’s request to go from a nine-member Board to a seven-member Board.
According to Auzqui’s report, “this historic approval was the first of its kind by the WSBE and establishes a process that may serve as a model for other Wyoming school districts.”
As a result, JCSD1 will have four four-year Board of Trustees positions on the ballot during the November election, completing the move to a seven-member board.
Those that will appear on the ballot are Travis Pearson, Casey Curtright, Brian Bergstressor, Michael Thomas, and Regg Hagge.
