Sheridan College Student Film Celebrates Women in Agriculture
A film highlighting the lives of Wyoming women working on the range will be screened at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9, at Sheridan College’s Whitney Center for the Arts.
During an appearance on Sheridan Media’s Pulse, Sheridan College student Jordan Carroll said “Grit & Grace,” a one-hour documentary, grew from a classroom challenge connected to the 2026 International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists (ranchers).

Videographer Nick Siegel joined Carroll and the two utilized Smith’s knowledge and connections of women who work with animals and the land here in the Cowboy State. For ten days the two lived, worked and traveled in a van to all four corners of Wyoming, interviewing women who brave the storms, sweat in the heat and devote their lives to caring for and producing livestock.
Siegel filmed and directed the documentary. He said one of the greatest challenges was in the editing room; condensing the information but still showcasing the work and dedication of each rancher.

The free event aligns with October’s international theme, female pastoralists, and welcomes agricultural and nonagricultural audiences alike. Attendees can connect with natural resource partners who are supporting the film and a Q&A will take place after the film as the women ranchers in the film will also be in attendance.
