Ninth WYO Film Festival

Published

on

The ninth annual WYO Film Festival begins at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, at the WYO Theater in Sheridan and continues through Sunday, Oct. 4.

WYO Performing Arts and Education Center Executive Director Erin Butler appeared on Sheridan Media’s Pulse and said the festival brings independent filmmakers and audiences together to celebrate storytelling through documentaries, narrative features, short films and discussions. This year, the festival will alter the format, allowing for a second screening of the festival’s favorite films, as voted on by the filmgoers.

Opening night features “People vs Politics,” followed by a filmmaker question-and-answer session. Saturday includes the family-friendly animated shorts at 9 a.m., which will offer cereal to eat and encourages the wearing of pajamas by each filmgoer, creating the Saturday morning cartoon experience for everyone.

Single screenings cost $20, with $12 student tickets, $65 weekend passes and $120 VIP passes available which offer all-access to the WYO Film Festival experience while supporting the festival’s mission. Organizers are alerting the public that only 150 VIP Passes will be sold.

Film descriptions, ticket information and schedule details are available at wyofilmfest.org for audiences planning their festival visits this weekend.
