Being mayor of Sheridan, said incumbent Mayor Roger Miller, is a full-time job.

And it’s a job that Miller is seeking to keep for another four years.

Miller said that’s what he will continue to do for the next four years if he’s re-elected.

He’s opposed in his bid for re-election by Rich Bridger, who’s currently president of Sheridan’s City Council.

The two men spoke during a candidates’ forum sponsored by the Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce Wednesday night.

Bridger in his comments said the city doesn’t create jobs, but the city can help promote job growth.

Miller noted that during his tenure as mayor, the city has worked with Sheridan College and, among other accomplishments, helped Weatherby relocate to Sheridan and helped expansion of Kennon Products.

In addition to Bridger and Miller, Wednesday’s forum featured all six candidates for Sheridan’s City Council and four of the six county commission candidates.

Also featured were candidates for Sheridan County’s four state representatives’ districts. Sheridan Media will have later stories on those.

The forum, presented by the Chamber’s government affairs committee, was held at the WYO Theater and followed the WYO’s COVID-19 guidelines. Numbers in the audience were limited and seated according to social distancing, and all forum attendees were asked to exit the building immediately following closing remarks by moderator Cody Sinclair.
