Representative Bratten Discusses Obscenity Bill

The Wyoming Legislative Budget session is scheduled to begin in less than two weeks and legislators will have approximately a month to craft a budget for the biennium and address a number of other important bills. State Representative for House District 51 Laurie Bratten is a member of the House Education and Judiciary Committees and she talked about a proposed bill that came out of the Joint Judiciary Committee that pertains to sexually explicit material in school libraries.

Bratten’s comments are from the recent Eggs and Issues event hosted by the Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce Government Affairs Committee. Bratten also touched on a few more pieces of proposed legislation from the Joint Judiciary Committee.

The Wyoming Legislative Budget Session is scheduled to convene Monday, February 9 and end on Wednesday March 11. Two additional legislative days are available if necessary.

    Id just like some clarification on the nature of “sexually explicit” materials in school libraries.

    This can be a subjective opinion that slides from illustrated patial nudity in art to sexually graphic descriptions of biological intercourse.
